97 corolla drop

I got '97 Corolla dx stock and have already put in a pioneer head unit... i'm goin for some better speakers, maybe a sub or 2, but most of all i want it to be faster... i wanna drop it, put in an intake, maybe some headers if any one makes some for a 97 and exaust. i got the exaust picked out, just gotta save for it. Any suggestions on the drop? they'd be appreciated, thanks.

Anybody know of an internet site that sells eibach sportline lowering spings in 2 to 3 inches?

2-3 inches? wow.. I would rather go 1.5-2 inches and save myself the hassle of wearing tires out fast due to alignment problems.

Try nopionline.com I believe.

1.5-2 is gonna look good for your car, make sure you either get soft springs or adjustible shocks, otherwise your ride is gonna like riding on stones.
Is your car a manual or automatic? If automatic, then I wouldn't suggest getting headers, it won't do much for you.

it's auto, so thanks for the advice. i wanted to get it switched to manual, but that costs a bit, so if i do decise to switch it, i'm going to be saving that for one of the last things to do, and now along with headers as a possibility. coming up this week is the installation of new speakers hopefully on friday... which is also payday. thanks again to all the suggestions.

exhaust headers basically get the exhaust from the pistons out. aftermarket headers do it quicker to increase power some what but nothin spectactular. they also make your exhaust sound better if you have pipes or even if you don't. i think thats around what they do, if i'm wrong, someone correct me.

You change headers to have more air flow from your engine to exhaust, which means, less compression on the engine. Thant's why, if you have headers the car will sound louder.

Uhm, thats not exactly how it is. Headers are made equal length, so that the exhaust pulses are timed, so they come out in an orderly fashion, so that they dont crash into each other and disrupt their flow out of the pipe.
Having less compression on the engine isnt applicable, the engine wont have to "push them" out anyhow. Headers only sound louder, because most people put assed out exhaust pipes with them.

they ussually are noticably lighter compared to the stock exhaust manifold... so you gain some ground in weight savings

Header helps all tranny, auto or manual. Just don't do the exhaust with 3" pipe. 2" is good enough.

Ok. I used to have a 97 DX. Do not bother making it faster.... the 7AFE is SLOW no matter what you do. Bolt-ons (intake/exhaust) are a waste of money.
The rear speakers can be upgraded to 6.5" They will bolt right in. Get some rims (preferrably lightweight) and nothing bigger than 16's. Also, do not get chrome rims. As far as subs, 1 or 2 10"s should be adequate. I recommend getting 2 Infinity Basslinks.
Lowering the car is a GREAT mod! I wouldnt go any lower than 2 inches.

Check out www.tirerack.com and www.racingsolution.com for parts. If you have any questions don't hesitate to shoot me a PM

yeah like Fred said, dont go any larger than 2.25" if you do decide to upgrade the exhaust. Honestly though, dont even bother with that unless you're going to swap in a 4AGE or 4AGZE.

AGREED! I had B&G springs and KYB struts. I think the ride was pretty decent. a little harsher than some other springs like Intrax, but it handled real well. The B&G's were a 1.6" drop, but I think maybe more like 1.7 or 1.8. I wouldnt go much lower than that.

I meant it's not longer they are more bored out then the stock headers.
