keyless entry programming for 2000 corolla

my car has keyless remote system installed. a month ago my keyless remote stopped working. i initially thought it was the batteries and changed the batteries but it still doesn't work. i am beginning to think if i can reprogram my keyless entry in car to accept the same remote. i tried the instruction for the 2004 corolla & the 2001 camry posted elsewhere on this board but they don't work (on the step where the door locks should open and close to give a confirmation, nothing happens). i would be grateful if someone can tell me how to program the wirless entry (factory installed) for a 2000 corolla. thanks.

Well I'm not sure what the problem is, but only way I got rid of it was to take the car to a nearest Toyota dealer and have them code/fix it. Much more easier ! (my opinion)
