ae92 4af (5spd) Questions

Got a ae92 with, 190,000 miles on it, I'm second owner. First owner gave me a stack of maintance and repairs two inches thick.
Good thing because all that shit was already done. Bad thing because it may mean it is unreliable(people say it is). Anyway the things exhaust is non exsistent, so everybody that don't no shit about cars, thinks the thing is modded, and all wanna race me, kinda anoying. Only problem is cold starts. Thing needs to be revved in the mornin. If I don't keep constant minute pressure on the pedal it stalls. Any answers for that? How bad is it really for a car to not have it's back pressure( muffler is in the trunk, things got some rust). Also it has a bit of a high idle, but can be kicked down. Anythoughts would be appreciated. Kinda funny to cause I go to work and get to drive the big Excursion, different feel ya think. Gotta love that 6.8 v10, had the thing at 5500 hun today, what a sound.

I belive that it is carborated so having to hold the pedal down is no big deal...it means that yoru choke isnt ajusted properly. No backpressure isnt 'bad' for the car but you will probably be loosing power.

Not having and exahaust is bad because you're not getting the full power output of the car, so I would recommend you fix it because it will affect your gas mileage and performance.

Having to start up the car while you're revving possibly means your "Auto Choke" is not working, but as long as it starts it's OK..

I have a 1990 SR5 and I love, it is a very reliable and fun car..

If it hasn't been done, i'd be a good idea to take that carb off and all the vacum and rebuild it and replace all vacum.

Pfftt.. fuck that.. source a good 4AGE or 7AFE and slap that in.. be done with annoying carburetors for good.

As for the exhaust get that repaired. When I was running my 4AF and straight through "ricer" muffler I had people wanting to race me all the time.. now that I still have the same exhaust system but a 7AFE.. it like never happens! go figure.. it was decently loud too until I put some intake tubing on .. fixed that open throttle sound. Now I got a Trueno hood with the S/C scoop on.. still no races.
