I am not sure that's true given the rust warranty on the body. I would check with Toyota before you touch the paint. In fact get it in writing.

yeah, it might void the rust warranty, but it won't void like the powertrain warranty or anything.

Why would you want to get a paint job on a brand new car? Unless you absolutely want a new color or you have numerous scratches\dents\accident.

Check the dealership

Here is the respnse I got back from Toyota.

****************

Dear Mr. Knight,

Thank you for your correspondence.

Toyota Canada Inc. does not endorse after market parts and accessories. What you suggest is a modification and Toyota Canada Inc. does not recommend modifying your vehicle. Despite this information, it remains that the car belongs to you, and if you wish it, you can have your Corolla repainted by an after market specialist. With regard to the warranty, we would like to take this occasion to explain that repainting will void the paint warranty.
Furthermore, if a concern emerges and is related to the repainting of the Corolla, repairs would not be covered by Toyota's New Vehicle Warranty.

Thank you once again to have taken time to contact us.

Sincerely,

Diane Lafreniere
Toyota Canada Inc.

Good job. At least we all know where the warranty issue stands.
But as things go, I can't remember anyone ever submitting a claim for warranty paint issues. Galvenized steel has pretty much made early rust a thing of the past.

So I guess that would mean that if you're painter did a poor job and got overspray on a rad hose which eventually leaked causing your engine to overheat and the pistons to seize....that your rad, hose and engine would not be covered under warranty.

I know...I'm reaching for the cause and effect...but while remote it is still a possibility.
