I have a 1982 Corolla CS. Lead Replacement petrol is being phased out here, and I'm told I now need to use high octane Unleaded with an additive from a bottle. There's a warning that if the additive is incorrectly applied, there could be engine damage!
Does anyone have experience?

you guys are still using leaded gas there? an 82 should be able to use regular 87 octane fuel.

No, in the older cars we use so-called Lead Replacement Petrol which is high octane unleaded plus an anti-valve seat recession additive. Due to 'lack of demand' LRP is being discontinued, hence the need to mix the additive. I'm not sure that an 82 CS can use regular 87 octane fuel; where could I check for sure? I guess one of the major Toyota dealers here?

I should have mentioned that Corollas KE 38/55 and KE 70 are the only c. 1982 models listed on the Australian Institute of Petroleum's web site that don't need AVSR protection. I'm not sure what these are.
