7AFE boosted performance

Anyone know what the 7AFE can handle and what it can put down in stock form with a turbo setup?

in stock form? less than 200hp...... probably 160-170psi or so before you run the risk of ruining something...... also depends on the turbo and cfm that turbo puts out....

there was someone on CR running like 450whp, but that was after several thousands of dollars into custom parts for the 7afe

Hmm.. I was thinking of a G head swap.. but that still leaves a shit ass bottom end.. and I was thinking of a JDM GZE swap but that wouldn't be cheap.. I ultimately want to get out of this car and get into a 5spd celica GT or GT-S .. and then do a 2nd gen JDM 3SGTE swap...

I could do some type of secondary throttle body setup on the 7AFE to gain more air intake.. and then do larger cams.. that would net me in the range of 15hp or better... it would definitly free up top end potential.

I remember 4AFTE was running 11 psi without problems...then one day he got greedy and pumped it up to somewhere around 15psi...then the rest was literally history.

^^^ yep, he was over on CC... i believe it was like a 96 or 97..... i remember him looking for a new cheap 4afe...... and it did go at 15psi

^^ same head, similar blocks.... if anything, the longer rods would be more susceptible (sp?) to breaking under pressure than the shorter 4A rods.....

Heh.. I'm tempted on trying the 7AFE out with larger cams... and doing a sort of secondary throttle.. that only opened when juicing the pedal.. would feel right into plenum and take it's air from my trueno hood scoop. I'm sure it would make a good difference.
