cone filter/cold air intake rigged up
I have a '04 Corolla S and for a while i used a purolator brand filter that i got from Auto Zone for about 12 bucks! But, i recently invested in a cone filter/cold air intake!! I just installed it and used believe it or not my stock tubing that ran to my air filter box. It was alittle bit of a challenge but not hard by any means. I wanted to buy a chrome tube but, there was no place to put the mass air flow sensor. So, what i did was i sliced a whole in my old rubber tube and slid it in. I also did the same for the vaccum hose. Then i removed the old filter box (bottom portion). To my suprise theres was a hose running from the fender well for cold air intake so, i used the sleeve that came with the cone filter to get it to reach right in the front of the cone. So, there you go cold air intake made easy and under 40 bucks. I did a test drive and there was more horsepower and it sounds great. No engine lights came on and no sparks or sputtering so i guess i did everything correctly. It revs at about 1000 rpms at idle but hey theres more air going in the engine now which is good for all engines. Tommorow i will be replacing rubber hose with pvc pipe from lowe's that way there will be a more air-tight seal. If anyone thinks they have a comment or advice then please let me know.
