I dont know if it was a good idea or not but i rigged up a cold air intake on my 04 corolla s and i seem to get better gas mileage now. As well as, better throttle response.
uhh...no need to get mad either. just in the future, keep it to one post...it makes it a lot less cluttered around here, and will annoy people a lot less.
good luck in getting information.

i don't play well with others.
a cai wont change low end or top end, because the manifold and cams are still the same. Anything prior to throttlebody make basically no difference what so ever.
Flashmn, ever see a dyno chart? Ever install a CAI on your own FI car? The powerband doesn't change, but gains are made near the top and there are losses at the bottom.
Here's a dyno of an Acura TL, notice the losses of HP and TQ at the bottom end and the gains at the top?
Seems to me that the powerband changed...but then again thats injens own dynograph. I hardly consider manufacteurer advertisement charts as credible. If you show me a third party (not a magazine or the maker) dynograph that has the ambient conditions and the time of each of the dyno runs on them, I'll admit it.
And no, I havent installed a cai on a fuel injected car, namely because all my cars are carbed.
The length of the intake track actually dictates the power band as well as the cam's and everything else in the motor.
The longer the intake track the more low end tq you can get due to the increase in intake velocity over the length of the track.
Short ram intakes make more Top end power (as long as you can keep the air coming in cold)
The gain on the top end of a CAI is normally caused by a less restrictive intake system (vrs's stock) and w/ a CAI you should see gains threw out the power band due to the higher oxygen content.

No we didnt. You said theres less oxygen. There isnt less oxygen, the mixture of air is still the same, its just less dense. If there actually was less oxygen, your car wouldnt run so well. Nor would you be able to be conscious.
