Question Advice please

I just rigged up my own cold air intake with a cone filter from APC sold at auto zone for around 35 bucks. I used my old rubber hose. I cut a place for my mass air flow sensor to fit in the old tube as well as my vaccum tube. Then, i ran my sleeve that came with the cone filter to the fender well hose that was attached to the old air filter box to the front of the vortex-like fornt of the cone filter. Is this a bad idea? Will i have engine problems now? Or should i just save up and buy a real expensive cold air intake system? So far i haven't seen ones for a 04 corolla that has a place to attach the mass air flow so i decided just to make one myself. Please lend me your expertise!!!!! I need everyone who knows about this kind of modification to give me your opinions!!!

There is. I got a short ram air intake with a place for my air sensor. It was around $40. I suggest you visit ebay, cause the've got plenty of intakes for '04 corollas, including AEM cold air intake. My suggesion, if you're going for cold air, get a nice one for around $160 and you won't have to buy a filter for it for years. I look at it as a good investment. Personally when my generic (not original) filter goes bad, I am getting an APEXi filter (around $200) so this way I don't have to clean or replace my filter again.
