98 corolla

Due to circumstances beyond my control (ie: deer) I have decided to mess with my 98 corolla (automatic). I was just wondering where to start and what I should look out for. My goal (for now) is simple. Be able to embarass people in their suv's off the line, and look good doing it. I'd like to look at alot of different options, so any links to specific info would be great. Also, since I will admit to not knowing a whole lot about them, what are the codes for the chassis and engine? I also must note that it doesn't have an rpm tach thing in the dash, which I find odd. Are all 98 corollas like this? Is there any way to put one in? Thanks for any help.

For real guys, any info at all would be super helpful. Also, I got some sponsorships from carsponsorships.com (in case anyone was wondering if they were legit, I know I was a couple weeks ago). I'll keep you posted on what happens with it. For now, please drop some knowledge on me lol.

your gonna have difficult time in finding aftermarket parts.........engine wise. exterior there are a few things to do to your rolla. if ya want anything performance wise, do an engine swap, preferably a 2zz-ge out of a celica gt-s or matrix xrs 03 models.

my friend had a white 98 corolla automatic le he did stuff to. he's also had two eight six's . his 98 was actually clean as hell. if i can get pics of it i'll post em up. his mods if i can remember right: he had tokico blues at all four corners with tokico shocks too i think. lowered it about 1.75inches. he had gunmetal rslmited with a polished silver lip 16inch rims with potenza tires. 5zigen exhaust. front strut bar. tinted windows, and a pretty good stereo. "clear corners" whiteline tail lights (not altezza). it was ricey but not too much. like i said, it was surpisrely really clean. i have a picture of one of his rims. but if i can get more i'll post em.

Thanks sqweek, gives me something to start with. Do you know if he did anything performance-wise to his car? Sweet ride mantisII! Did you do the engine swap you mentioned before into your corolla? How much does a swap like that cost? If I only wanted a little more performance, would a cai and a cat back exhaust do anything?

On another note, I was looking into the Shogun body kit from Erebuni, and I found a site that had the Erebuni shogun cheaper. I also found a site that has that kit cheaper as well as one that looks just like it, but for half the cost.

Erebuni Site: http://www.erebunicorp.com/ge/toycol98.htm

Cheaper Site 1: http://www.wickedbodies.net/generic165.html

Cheaper Site 2: http://www.bodykits.com/fullview.php...option_price=0

Cheaper Site 2 different kit: http://www.bodykits.com/fullview.php...option_price=0

Any reccomendations when it comes to body kits? Things I should look out for?

thanks for the complement. but dont waste money on the erbuni kit. it is made for the non us version of the corolla. it need to be heavily modified to fit our car.
those are pics of my 1zz engine. i will be startin the swap next weekend. the 2zz is rated at 180 hp. so it was the only logical thing to do. i already have much money tied up in my baby to get rid of her.
im gettin the swap done for cost, no labor. a friend of mine up in vermont is opening his own shop and im helpin him put his name out there. but i would say if i was payin for it, it would be pretty pricey.

I live in upstate New York, and i checked out the site on your windshield, so I was wondering if you knew of any good shops in my area or where I could find out about them.

the 1zz-fe is actually a better choice to do any real modification too.. the 2zz celica is does have better standard power but it is very hard to modify... i have already got the plans for my 98 turbo intercooled 1zz, but i havent yet put down the money...
