'85, should I buy?

There's an 85 corolla hatchback in my area being sold quite cheap. The carb has to be rebuilt. It has moderate rust and could do with a paint job. I looked at the engine and it looks good for it's age. No unusual noises. They're asking $300 CAN for it. I approximate the additional costs to get it in good condition would be between $400 and $900. Should I buy?

remember.. If its carb'd then its an SR5.. good if you're planning to just drive it as a beater... if you're thinking drift king.. then you're far from reality.

any hatchback right now, be it an SR5 or a GT-S, is very high in market value. to fix it you're spending close to $1500CAD. why not wait and find a GT-S for a little more. at least you don't have to worry about the carb and there's more race oriented parts on it. ie, all wheel disc brakes.
