Angry 2003 Corolla with leaking moonroof

I have a 2003 Corolla LE with a power moonroof. It rained alot the last couple days and I drove the car today and noticed water dripping from the front door pillar on the passenger side. The carpet was soaked. I checked the moonroof and it was fully closed and not in the tilted position.

What would cause this type of leakage ? Is there a drain for the roof area that might be clogged up causing this problem ?

Thanks,

Terry B.

Have you had the front windshield replaced? Sometimes you can get leaks from upper corner of windshield that may not be sealed properly and could 1st appear as a roof leak????

I have a 2003 corolla S with the same type moon roof and so far I have not (fingers crossed) run into that problem and I leave it out in the rain always...now I'm scared...I don't think it has a drain(why?) if you leave it open its going to rain into your car and a drain isn't going to help but it might for water thats still on the roof after a rain...If its the first time this happened I would check the seal with the roof fully opened to see if a small piece of branch or something wasn't caught in the seal when you closed it(anyway give it a good look-see and cleaning...also maybe if you shut off your car before it closed completely all the power to it stopped leaving a little gap...just a thought...also when you opened your moon roof did you check on the inside track to see if that was wet? last if its still under warrenty let them inspect it...Good Luck....Raddman Out...

Talking Cause of leak in moonroof on 2003 Corolla

I examined the area of the moonroof when it was open and found a small rubber piece was blocking the drain hole on the passenger side. This rubber part was a bumper piece for the inner headliner slide which covers the moonroof area.

Just thinking...How could water have gotten into the moon roof to the blocked drain if it was closed and sealed?...Strange something not right here.....Raddman Out..

R u sure not some1 has pee there? LOL.
If the moonroof leak can't be @ the front passenger side.
test one more time when it is raining, then u can tell. I have driven my almost 3 years now, not having a single leak.
If it is really leaking, ensure u bring it back to dealer while under warranty.

Kind of weird. I used to have an 04 Corolla S and drove it in the rain and snow, but never a hint of anything in the cabin from the moonroof and now my 05 Corolla XRS has a tightly sealed moonroof as well. Your posting is not specific enough. You said the water was leaking from the front pillar, which is quite far from the moonroof. I have not seen any holes in the front pillar that the water can seep from. Could you provide some more details??
