Anyone else have these problems with their Corolla and the service at their dealer? I would like to hear some horror stories...I live in the Cleveland area and have a 2003 corolla S-silver...so far(get a cup of coffee its long..lol) problems-first 100 miles I went to set my clock and it fell in(back to the dealer...my headlight blew its seal and it fogged up on me-dealer replaced it when I picked my car up the whole area around the light was scratched and had touch up paint on it they had me take it to a shop where they had to re-spray my whole front end...picked the car up the one fender was hanging on one side with a one inch gap, they fixed it..my windshild washers both plugged up, they replaced them but didn't purge the system they plugged up again...they replaced them both again and purged the system this time and over tightened them crimping the hood on both sides...they replaced my hood, the color didn't match...they fixed that...so far including the above they have replaced my bottom bumper the one that has my fog light in it(bracket broke) both my front door seals(ripped)...my front tire(blew out at 2,000 miles) Goodyear did that...a rear trim on the inside of my car door the bracket snaped off...the compartment door under my radio broke off...and while replacing my cabin air filter they broke a hinge off of the glove compartment door..they replaced it...and while getting my maintenance work done the service guy put my keys under a pile of papers and the service lead didn't know my car was done and parked outside waiting for me after only an hour, and I sat in the waiting room for 5 hours before she found the keys and called me...well thats it for now but I haven't driven my car yet today....Raddman Out...
"OH, WHAT A FEELING!" It does seem that the later Corollas have some quality control issues. My friend has a 2004 Corolla, and I swear that the engine in my '90 DX (which has nearly 160K) is actually QUIETER than the engine in his brand-new car! Guess even Toyota doesn't make them like they used too. It is not just Toyota dealerships, either. I had a Nissan 300ZX Turbo that the dealership really did a number on, too! Regards, Aaron
is there a lemon law in your state? if there is i'm sure your car must fall under it....therefore the dealer would be required to give you a new car or retail of what your car is worth
Knightbr, Actually it had a large bubble on the sidewall and Toyota said that tires are not covered under warranty(it said that in their warranty manual also) so I had to go through Goodyear to replace it..only 2,000 miles and they only paid 80% of the cost...and its true at start up my car sounds like a wash machine but after it warms up it runs quiet(Automatic and sometimes get 40 mpg)...looking at consumer reviews many other owners said the same thing...Tip, if you buy a new Corolla don't let them put Goodyear Integrity tires on they only lasted me 30,000 miles and they were slick...even when new I slid around in the rain and snow...on a review out of a 1000 people with 10 being the highest rating Integrity's got a 2.3 rating...and I heard Firestone isn't much better, I went with a top rated tire BFgoodrich traction T/A H rated..a little harsher ride but these tires stick to the ground like glue...also went up to 205/65/15 it had an extra rib on the tread....Raddman Out...
sounds like a shitty dealer, toyota has standards for all of their dealerships that they have to follow, and they are given scores on how well they follow them, look around and ask the dealer for their CSI score, my dealership isnt all that high in the CSIs (mostly green some yellow) but we have never had something as bad as what happended to you at our shop (i work for Appleway Toyota in Spokane WA, apprentice Technician)
mine aren't severe, but i was turned down from a SCHEDULED service once, because whoever booked my appointment, booked it on a busy day, and when i got there they told me they couldn't service the car that day and that i'd have to reschedule. i canceled plans to come in, only to get that crap handed to me.
also, a relative of mine who works at this dealership was able to hook me up with an extra keyless remote, and when they went to program it in, they forgot to program one of them (total of 3), so when i went to try it later that day, much to my surprise it didn't work and had to bring it back the next day. yes, i should've checked it before i left, but i didn't expect an already working remote to stop working, while the new one did
lastly, when i went to pick up my car the first time i brought it in, they couldn't find it for 15 mins.
I forgot a few...lol...When I bought the car they had a special internet price plus the internet salesman had a $100 coupon and I printed both out...When I went in to buy the car I found out that the salesman was transferred to Cal... So I went to the new Internet salesman and told him all of the things/features I wanted on the car, then he gave me a price that was $800 over what the first guy quoted on the internet..when I showed him the copy of the quote from the first guy his mouth dropped and turned pale...he went to talk to about 5 guys including the owner, came back and said "were giving you this car for that price and its almost what it cost us...I showed him my $100 coupon and he said" Please don't use that i'm new and they'll take it out of my small commission on this car" me being stupid and a nice guy I said Ok...30 thousand mile check up they told me I had 20% left on my front pads, I got worried..I had local shop(friend) replace them at half the cost, he called me and told me that I had over 60% of pad left..I told him while he had the car there and the new ceramic pads to replace them anyway just to be safe...I called the dealer customer service the next day and complained about this and in her exact words.."Sometimes we make mistakes but isn't that kind of stupid to get them replaced if they had that much pad left"...well I had one more about the front end alignment when they didn't do it and gave me a print out from another car, but I need a beer....Raddman Out...
Holy crap Raddman!!!!! I feel your pain! My 2004 Corolla S is crapping out on me! My idle was bad spitting and sputtering come to find out there was a whole in my intake tube. They said it had been tampered with so my warranty would not cover it so including diagnostics i would owe them 170 bones .What kind os shit is that? After ranting and raving with everyone there except the car detailers i finally got the right number to call and open a work order. I have had about 7 visits to the dealership in the 5 months i have owned my car! A couple were for the same reasons and wasn't fixed the first time. I ordered a new door handle for the through the dealer because the chrome was peeling off. I had to call them when it came in to find out if they had recieved it yet. Then aftering working my ass off all night on graveyards i took my car in to have the door handle fixed and they ordered the wrong door handle . They ordered the driver side instead of the passenger side handle! WHAT A BUNCH OF RETARDS!!!! Me or my girlfriend will never buy another Toyota from that dealership ever again!!!
