Canada Map sensor?

few questions....
map sensor what does it do?

and how does it affect the car...? example for me... my car dies out... stalls when i'm driving it...when i'm at idle or when i'm stopping...could that be a factor?

Map sensor is called the samething as air flow sensor??

i found that the map sensor is a one of the common problems on a 94 corolla...i'm having this problem with my car for a while now (month and half) and tryin to pin point the problem...
thanks for helpin out..

A Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is different from a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. One measures pressure and the other measures the amount of air flowing past which is useful for knowing how much fuel to mix with it. In my general experience, MAF sensor based systems are more advanced and usually superior to MAP sensor based systems... and they rarely are both used in one system.

Check you idle speed. MAP problem will cuse car not running at all. Clean the throttle body probably you got too much buildup and its blocking the idle air path.
Reset idle and timing.

with the idle ..it shouldn't be cause my car dies stalls but i can't start the car right away..i have to wait 2-30 mins to start my car again it's not because my car has a low idle...what happens is i drive my car doesn't matter what i'm doing stopping idling....or on the gas my car will cut off...and then i have to push it to the side of the road...and wait till it can start again...and it will last for only like 10 sec or 30 mins..again..

Pull engine code and see what it is.
Engine die because of no fuel, no spark or no air.
Maybe even broken wire.
