Question Maybe I'm an itiot...

...but for the life of me I can't find the starter on my car. I have a 1991 Corolla with the 4A-FE engine. Automatic trans.

I read the starter was under the air filter assembly. I took that off, but I can't find the starter anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! Now I just have to figure out the best way to get to it and remove it. Any suggestions there?

first take off your intake (box and hose), jack the car up and take off the two power wires (one is a clip on the other is bolted on, ALSO VERY IMPORTANT DISCONNECT THE BATT, i fried my self before doing a starter because i forgot to turn off my battery (i have a circut breaker because the batt is in the trunk) then take the bottom bolt off (14mm i beleive), go to the top of the car take a 14mm wobble socket or a 14mm socket with a wobble extension and take out the top bolt, the starter should drop but its a bit of a bitch to work it out from under the car, just try to fit it between the axle and through the side of the car
