What is max rpms of 4A-FE ?

Hi guys, new to the boards here. I just recently installed a tach on my 1990 Geo Prizm as it did not have a stock one. Its just a small simple 2 1/5" tachometer.

Anyway, the max rpm is 3,800rpm im getting. It feels much stronger than only 3,800rpm.... more like 5-6k. If anybody else has around the same year geo/corrolla/nova could you plz let me know what your max rpm is or your redline...

For some reason I think mine should be higher than this maybe my tach is reading it wrong...

I think my AE92 4A-FE has a 6200 redline and 6300 fuel cut.

Do you think something is wrong with my wiring or is it just possible that the GEO's dont rev as high? Cause man at 3.8k rpms it sure doesnt feel that low.

it was still at 4 cyl (which my car is) But i put it at 6 cyl just for kicks and it read twice as low....put it back at 4 cyl.

You think it has anything to do with it begin connected to the radio for the accessory wire? I was tired when I was doing it and just tapped it into the radio cause it was close...i have to turn the radio on for the tach to work. You think this might be a problem, restricting it ?
