Angry H3 xenon crystal bulb sucks...maybe..

So i got these H3 xenon crystal bulb for my fog light (2004S)about 2 weeks ago, and they burnt out on me yesterday! the glass casing was cracked, and the bulb was covered with white precipitate. Did any experience this or is it just a single odd case?

I am wondering if it is because it has a higher intensity? 100W instead of 55W..or the weather..but it hasn't been that cold here yet.

well if the glass cracks it wont take long for the bulb to blow. Maybe vibration started a crack, maybe there was a small crack from the factory and then it started to crack more from vibration. Although I consider those lights as ricelights, which usually have more advertisements than actual function. I'm using philips bulbs now, they're great, they dont come in a fancy box, but in a cardboard box, but the function is great. Plus you can find them in 90/100W or 100/130W and the normal 55/60W

With higher wattage lights, don't you have to upgrade the wiring harness to prevent from melting it? And what about the risk to melting the plastic housing?

If you touched the bulb with your hand or got any debris on the bulb, that could explain it's early termination - no?

PM me if you're interested - I still have a set of "unopened" Nokya Arctic White H3's. Stupid as a brush, I bought the wrong one's (twice ) because I trusted a website lookup - not realizing my 2005 fogs are just lowbeam's (9006's).

I had no problems running 100w bulbs in my AE92, before my conversion to Hella 90mm projectors.

Bought a set of Nokya Arctic purple H3's on ebay and my fog lights take 55/60w the seller told me they were mismarked(reason he could sell them at a lower price) reading 100w and not to worry because they were really 55/60w...I put them on and a few days later both bunrt out and when I pulled them out both had heat blisters and one just crumbled in my hand...I went to Hilite high performance intensity superwhite Xenon bulbs 55/60w and they are really bright and white, bought them on ebay and in two years I blew one out and sent the bulb back to the seller(only cost 65 cents US first class mail) and he sent me back a two pack...lifetime warranty.....never go to a higher wattage bulb unless you upgrade your wiring..I also run Silverstars in my headlights..great super white bulb..only problem is with DRL it shortens their life....Raddman Out...

Silverstars are nice and bright. And $50 every year ain't so bad compared to $600 for HID's

Yeah, but they're still alot dimmer than HID. You wont get anything near HID with filament bulbs.

I agree Silverstars are one of the best. However HIDs would be better, besides they are not $600 they are about $300 for a nice McCulloch kit. Or you can even get them cheaper depending on the color of the bulb that you want.

Could be the wattage difference that burnt burnt the bulb. But the filament are both intact. Only the outside metal part was dark burnt colour. The crack is at near the wire area of the bulb. still puzzles me. I put back my stock last night. And i just noticed my driver side fog light go out. argh!

i used to use expensive CATZ H3 bulbs.....but after spending 80 bucks on them and having one of them blow after two months.....i went back to using cheap crappy tire H3 bulbs......at five bucks each, i don't care how many i go thru.....i'll just have to live with the fact that the fogs won't be as bright as the headlites......
