I like how you wrote "Still in good shape" even though you just bought it.

Nice car but not to burst youR bubble except for a few things everything on that car is the same as my 03....05's have a mesh looking grill(yawn) and new front botton bumpers which I must say the 03's look much better because they don't look/stick out like a "cow catcher" also the interior is the exact same and so are the wheels, just hope they didn't stick you with goodyear or firestone tires like they did me or you will be replacing them at around 30,000, don't get me wrong if I had the dough I would upgrade every year...JMHO......Raddman Out....

The 05 dark smoked headlights, the clear tail lights with no amber turn signals are a few more things that are BETTER than the 03/04 S.

Better?....Its just in the eyes of the beholder....Its different not necessarily better...smoked headlights? that's was on the 03 list of features ...bet there exactly the same(no amber turn signals) who cares?.....Don't get your panties in a bind but....look at the cars side by side 03-05 both have a few feature changes nothing else...don't get me wrong I love my rolla but their going to change the whole complete styling again in 07(did you know that?) just 2 years after you bought your car...and in two years people will be telling you how antiquated your 05 is like your trying to tell me....Raddman Out....

Smoked headlights are not a big deal. You can bake the headlights and paint them if one desires, which I prefer more, because it is easier to change the color of the housing if you feel like it. The amber triangle in the headlight, can also be taken out. I did it using nothing else then a two screw drivers and plyers.
The grill, personally I like the '03 & '04 better than the '05. But these are just minor things. The only thing I honestly like from the '05 models are the back lights, which I want to get for my '04 corolla.
I think the '03-04 corollas have a more aggressive look then the '05. The '05 looks to me like a gentle compact sedan, while the '03-04 models look sporty (the sport version, or if the ce and le are dropped)

Look at my signature. I used to have an 04 Corolla S and now I have an 05 Corolla XRS. Eventhough, the 04 had smoked headlights, the new S and XRS have a lot darker headlights. For your information, Toyota has put 700 new parts in the new Corollas so there are a lot of things that are different. There was on electronic drive by wire throttle system in 03/04 and now the all the Corolla models except XRS (high performance) have the ECT-i. The sound deadening is a lot better in my 05 XRS than it was on my 04 S. The material used on the 05s are different and higher quality than the 04s. There are vehicle skid control and vehicle stability assist that are optional on the 05s ( except XRS).

I love Corollas, from the early to the new. I drive an 87 sedan . I like all new models but I have to go for Corolla 2001 (I think thats the year, not sure) for looks. I think the 05 looks too slim and tall for my taste, but its still an awsome machine like all corrollas. As Raddman said, its all in the eyes of the beholder. Enjoy it my friend.

ps: where you in a hury to post the pictures when you painted the plates?

Good God! '03 to '05 = all basically the same. Prolly '06 will be the same too. '07 should be a new body style. Maybe hybrid? Who knows? Let's save our breath and talk then. But yes, Koss. Your '05 is lovely. Congratulations.

I really don't think that the purpose of this post was whether or not there was many changes to the 05 from the 03, he is just excited about his new car and it is a nice car. The opinions of which is nicer the 03 or the 05 is irrellevent in this matter, and FYI corolla model change is not 07 Camry is 07. New corolla will be 08, 05 is mid-model run minor change time, and yes there were over 700 changes and were not talking nuts and bolts, ECT-I was a big one as well as Advanced Air-bags. front and rear bumpers, headlights taillights, actually if you wanna get right down to it the fenders are actually slightly different as well, a matter of millimeters but they are different, grill, center hight adjustable head rest in the rear. ignition system changes, standard imobilizer on all models, shall I continue. As far as looks very similiar and which is prefered is up to individual people.

wow... drive-by-wire. Thats the biggest waste of money if you want to take a performance angle to the car. That new TB will pretty much negate any bolt on mods that you might have in store... that's why you guys dont have an intake made yet, because you wont see any worthy gains until some computer work is done... and considering nobody has broken the Corollas ECU code its not going to happen anytime soon. The new Mustang is having the same problem (with the computer TB) but they unlike us have tons of support by unichip and have cracked their ECU's already.

Also, hope you 05ers didnt want a supercharger either, just one more thing to add to the list of aftermarket support dropped for the 05'. Just some food for thought.
