Engine Swap

One of my friends says that the 1.6L single cam block is stronger than the twin cam block, and that its better just to rebuild it into a twin cam instead of just getting a swap, is that true?

the 4ac and the 4age share the same block. 4age head will bolt directly onto the 4ac block. use a 4age timing belt and timing gear on the crank.

Good luck with the electronics.
Pistons are different too... so you might run some valve clearance problems.

yeah, but the pistons are different between 4a-f/fe and g/ge, and they arent cross-swappable.

The 4AC block is generally the same as the early 4AG blocks, but the internals are not as strong. It'll be far more cost effective to get a complete 4AG with all accessories because the 4AG mounts accessories differently than the 4AC. Like flashmn said... pistons are completely different. They may clear the extra 2 valves in the 4AG head... but then again... they may not. Cranks are completely different, the 4AG having a much beefier crank with 8 bolts for the flywheels as opposed to the 4AC using 6. The rods are much beefier on the 4AG also. Building a 4AG from a 4AC will cost a bit more than simply picking up a complete 4AG...
