Follow your positive cable(+) from your battery down and it will end up on/at your starter....

Question
"1990 Corolla Clicked many times before starting - took to dealer - said that contacts on solinoid were worn - 5
day waiting list to get in - so I kept clicking to get started and driving. This morning the starter would not dis-engage even with
the key removed - I removed the battery cable after 4 - 5 frantic minutes - Cause?? And would I burn out the starter or strip
the flywheel??";

Answer
The starter definetely needs to be replaced, if the starter should engage while driving it will engage into the flywheel and possibly cause damage to the wiring, if the dealer is not too far away you can get it started and then disconnect the positive side of the battery, the engine will run from the voltage output of the alternator, the starter can't engage but remember you can't restart it unless the battery is reconnect it, the other option and the safest one, is to have it towed to the dealer or replace the starter at your home....Raddman Out...

I know that if i follow the positive cable of the battery I will end up at my starter..the problem is that wires are hidden by a plastic tube...it would be easier for me to know exactly where the starter is instead of getting the wires out of the plastic tube...

thanks again!

Just trying to help since no one else is posting...I really don't know where a 1990 starter is located but I'm sure you don't have to be a rocket scientist to find it on a small engine..first of all it would be located on the side your battery is on, second it wouldn't be more then a few feet from your battery and down, third it would be attached on your transmission, look for something that has a big red wire attached to it, or open the hood and let someone crank it over and look where the clicking noise is coming from(shouldn't be hard to tell)...or just go to the library they have plenty of books showing you where/how/to find/replace your starter....Raddman Out....

God you apparently know nothing about cars and won't take any advice...Even if you find the starter what are you going to do then? my advice to you is spend a few bucks and take it to a professional before you screw your car up worse then it is JMHO....Raddman Out....
