make mine stiff!

Well driving around with almost no spring left on my front drivers side and having my suspension have little to no rebound when I get new struts and springs in the spring I'm thinking of going with stiffer springs. I know this will give a harsher ride but I'm getting used to the rides like a truck feeling.

So what I'm wondering is how stiff can I get my springs. You know.. like what kind of a spring rate (for front and rear) would emulate closeness of what I have right now?

you could repair your existing springs. just get a bottle of viagra, mix in a bottle of enzite, now crush them up in a bowl and add some "surge" cola so that the springs don't get pregnant. now rub the compound on your springs and wait 30 minutes. then show the springs the cover of the case of initial D. and there you go, stiff as a rock!

surge had an urban legend of making your sperm count low. it's off the market now.

Problem with ultra-stiff suspensions is that the chassis will start to flex more, which can cause tears or stress fractures.

Would strut tower bars prevent this?

No, I'm not only talking about the strut towers, I'm talking about stress on the other parts of the car, sure track cars can run very stiff springs, because they just drive on smooth surfaces. On the street however, theres potholes and all kinds of bumps.

Yeah, what he said, and you can mess up/overload your tires.
It's also hard to find a set of shocks that'll keep up with a really stiff set of springs, real bummer when you hit a bump going really fast and the car does a shopping cart slide.

You'd be better off to just replace the oil inside your existing shocks with a slightly higher viscosity oil, will give you lots more control without such risk of damage, if you don't have the $ for Bilsteins.

Someone I know messed up their old 911 with some really stiff bars, sticky tires, no cage/bracing.

I see. Would it be ok if I just go with slightly stiffer springs then? What is the max spring rate I could use on a streetable car?
