Hey guys its me again, i have a 4AF engine i would like to know if it would be ok to turbocharge with the stock caburator for 3psi. and can someone tell me about this pressure box using the blow through method.
hey guys where you all get the idea about me planning to run 6psi?????? i told you all from the beginning i only running 3psi not 6PSI ok. thats why i ask, is it ok to run 3psi with the stock carb.
Well the best bit would be to make sure everyhting else is up to the task of being turbo charged...such as exhaust, fuel system, engine internals etc etc....Maybe invest in a reco-mild upgraded carb? Might do a better job...Good luck and try and keep the rods inside the block...
Cheers

6 psi boost on a stock AF carb? you gotta be kidding me right? how long will your carb last running a 6 psi boost?
The carb wont wear out running 6psi boost, how can it, it only lets in air.
But on another note, no I didnt mean 6psi boost. I meant fuel presure of amount of boost PLUS 6psi. so your fuel pressure would be N-psi/bar + 6psi/0.4bar. "N" being the amount of boost you're planning to run.
However, your fuelpressure regulator will need to be a rising rate one, as if you have fuel pressure of 3psi + 6psi on idle, you're just gonna flood the carb. The pressure has to be 6psi on idle, but when you start to get boost the fuel pressure will rise along with it.
I cant say for sure, I know of an 4A-FE that ran stock pistons with 15psi...
hmm, let me say that, if theres no detonation, they should be ok with 3psi, I mean 3 psi is less than I fart
