'88 GT-S Exaust

Well, the other day I wasn't really paying attention and hit a speed bump way to fast at school...and well, the thread I posted earlier about the odd sound, turned out to be my muffler which is now bent to hell.

So, I am curious what options I have for exaust on my 1988 GT-S Coupe. Something fairly cheap (shall we say between $250-300) but that sounds good, no coffee can honda bs!

Thanks all

Exhaust for 88-91 Corolla GTS FWD

I have a recently acquired 91 Corolla GTS, and ordered an HKS cat-back for $310 plus shipping from California (about $20) from:

ToySport

Hope this helps. It's due here Thursday. Can't wait.

Can you post pics and let me know how it sounds after you install it? Are you just replacing the muffler? Or changing the pipe size as well?

heh... with toysport you'll be lucky if it's there in a month.....

i would say go to an exhaust shop.... i have a smallport 4age in my ae92 sr5 which i had 2.25" piping, had them put in a 2.25" inlet/outlet turbo muffler with chrome tip..... also had them install a 2.5" high flow cat (already had that when i went in).... all together (on a saturday... weekdays are cheaper) cost me $217 US after taxes for the piping, muffler, tip, and install..... it sounds damn good down low and on the highway.... it's a bit raspy up top but still sounds pretty good IMO

Was it a local Tacoma exaust shop? I know the whole Tacoma area pretty well (just moved away in June). Where abouts did you get it done?

HKS Cat-back Install Report

OK, it's on. Has a smaller resonator behind the cat with the larger muffler out back. It's in three pieces, resonator, mid pipe with the two 90 degree bends, and the muffler with the piece that goes over the suspension subframe. Smaller "non-ricer" chrome exhaust tip. Arrived within one day of when promised.

Sound is healthy but not loud or rude at any rpm. Diameter is about 2" from the cat to the resonator, then appears to get closer to 2 1/4" out to the muffler.

Seems to be very well made and everything bolted up well. No rattles/rubs. They only sent four bolts, and could have used six; the two factory original bolts between the cat and the first section/resonator were very corroded. Had to cut one off.

I'd give this a 10/10. Toysports stated that these might be discontinued soon.

Now if I could only finad a factory original left front strut housing I could install my Koni inserts!!! Anyone?
