Hey guys, what up. Iīve been wondering if its anywhere as posible to Turbo charge a Carburated car. I donīt know much about turbos so feel free to educate me....

I'd suggest you search a little before you post up any topics. If you post a topic that has been talked about many many times, You will get flamed to death.
ma man, anything can get turboe'd...its just a matter of runing pipes, and in the case of a carb, making a box (ontop of the carb) or something to seal the pressurized air that shoots it straight in thru the carb.
offcourse there's lots more to it...need tuning to throw more fuel, new fuel pump, more agressive/hotter sparks, etc...oh and a lotta money.
etxxz is right! it can be done as i've seen one on a 3TC powered starlet up in New Jersey a few years back. depending on what carbs you're using. the one i saw was equipped with a Holley carb. on a dual side draft set-up i heard the SKs are the way to go. weber internals won't take the boost, that's what i was told.

Which is BS... SK racing carbs like webers wont take boost unless you equilize pressure in the float chamber, after doing this webers will take boost delightfully. Equilizing can be done with several ways. Hell you can use the stock crap aisan if you want and it would work just as well.

have you ever boosted a weber or an SK carb yourself? or this is a result of another google search. i'm getting my info on a guy that did the mod himself, and that's what he told me and i've seen this thing work on 11psi boost.
Flasmn.. don't take this personally but 99% of the claim you make here were never backed-up. it's always theories, let's see some proofs. since you're the carb expert, enlighten us how you can boost a stock "crappy" asian carb (like the AF carb), that would work well, and how long this set-up would last? i'm very curious!

Listen pal, if you'd bother to read my post, you'd notice that I said that you have to make a pressure box over the aisan carb to equilize the pressure. How long it would last, well.. indefinately ofcourse, it doesnt "wear out" the carb any more than operation as NA would wear it out.
99% of my posts ARE backed up with basic and advanced automotive mechanics. Guess what pal, I've completed studies in basic and advanced engine design/operation and turbine technics, so I'm not even going to bother arguing, its your choice if you want to believe what I'm telling you, you have been granted a right to make your choices. But dont insult me by asking me if I used "google" to make my statements.
For your question regarding if I boosted weber carbs... well, I have weber carbs on my car... thats all I'll reveal for now. Plus our club Toyota club of finland has several cars boosting with webers and dellortos.
Hey thanks a lot you guys. I want to boost up my stock 87 corolla. Its got its stock carb, (not sure wich one it is), and a 4A engine 1.6L. So thanks a lot for everithing. What about schematics. I have a lot of trouble imagining where things might fit. Anyways, if it is posible I`ll look further into it. Please feel free to discuss further.

Oh and CamNub. I konw youre probably an expert on all these topics. I just made a question to find out if it is posible, now that I know, I`ll look it up and figure it all out. The idea was to use this forum to help me avoid a wild goose chase, not to insult your inteligence. If you dont want to answer, just dont. But thanks anyway for the advise
