Uhhhh I need bolt help....i guess....

So i was just putting the timing cover back on to my AE92 corolla. I was tightening the bottom left bolt when it broke off. Just snapped right in half. I've got the top half, how do i get the rest out?? Oh and right now i'm assuming its still fine to drive, right?

Drill it, then use a tap to get it out.

If it broke off flush with the engine, a tap is really the only way to get it out. If not, you could try to grab it with some vice-grips or something. The timing covers on these cars are attached with enough bolts that you could probably get away with leaving that one broken...I know racers sometimes run their engines without timing belt covers at all. Regards, Aaron

Take a titanium drill bit less that half the size of the boken bolt, drill right throught hte middle of the broken bolt, then use a tap kit to get it out.

You'll need to drop the engine down or lift it all the way out to drill it. Which bolt you broke? The one on belt cover? If so leave it.

Yea, it was ONE of FOUR bolts holding the TOP half of the cover in place. I haven't been driving the car very much, but it is still off. So it should be fine to continue driving like this?

Yea as long as the other 3 bolts are hold the cover and its not falling off. It may vibrate a bit and be noisy but no harm.
