well, it looks like there are no supercharger for the 2001 Corolla. So I decided to look into a turbocharger. I don't quite know the difference, except for that I heard a turbocharger gives off more heat.
anyways, I did a search for turbocharger, and a bunch of stuff varying from used $80 to rebuilt $400 ones. Will they all work on any car, or what's the deal?
Anyway, to the original poster, I suggest you read up on superchargers and turbos, it's important to know what you're getting into. You can get more info at howstuffworks.com , that site is pretty good, it provides solid basic information and animations to help you understand better. As far as turbos go, there's alot more going on than just the turbine itself, you need a variety of parts and it definetly won't cost less than about 700 (generally speaking, and if you do the work yourself). Again, I suggest you learn more about your car before dumping money into it, it's gonna end up costing you tons of time and money
i just got rip off for my turbo, payed the fu**er $147 and he never respond to my email or even bother to send me my shit.
now aint that about a bi*ch or what?
sorry for my bad mouth,im just piss off...........
honestly...between a turbo or a supercharger...turbos put more wear and tear on your motor. they're also easier to find, but good luck finding someone who will willingly put it on the car without laughing their asses off at you. you're almost better off going n/a and building up the menial motor that way.
it's a shame but there really aren't any worthwhile superchargers for the 01/02 corolla...everything's made for 03+ models.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jake, take a chill pill. Everyone was there once. Plus, im 16, but offhand I know what im doing. Hey, sins here is some advice--research,research,research. Not only should you look up the capabilities of a turbo and its functions but meet someone that will teach u hands on. Not only will this provide you with knowledge about ure turbo and how to use one but it will teach u how to self-install saving u money. Thats how I learned and it works. Keep up the intensity of upgrading and learning and you will improve with time.

but i mean seriously...i got a handme down corolla but i know the car is made for luxury *cough cough.. gagggg* and not really made for performance and thinking a turbo will fix everything just isn't right i mean check this kid out...
If i'm not suppose to take that the wrong way...then how am i suppose to take it? No, i'm not a 16 year old with hand me down. I bought this car 2 years ago when I went off to college, and it is only recently that I became interested in cars and turbo.
as for your lame buddy who thought that total asshat comment was funny... turbo and supercharger are basically the same, except superchargers draws power from the engine itself whereas a turbocharger draws its induction force from the exhaust. If anything, it would make more sense that the supercharger would wear out the motor faster because it puts more of strain on the motor that is feeding it. Though, this is very doubtful, wearing of the motor deals more with the PSI setting. I don't plan to go pass 6psi which is a safe place to be for my stock engine (yes, i am aware i have to mod my injection system). perhaps, in the future when I finish reading up on engines, I will be able to rebuild it with better pistons and such, howing higher PSI.
and no one is going to laugh at me for experienting with turbo. But then, it wouldn't surprised me if they did for today I learned that the world seem to be full of idiots.
