Corolla timing belt change

Hey all,

I have been through numerous posts, etc..

I have decided that I need to check/replace the timing belt on a 90 corolla with a 4 fe engine.

Any thoughts on checking the timing and or the replacment will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

I think my timing is lined up correctly. I will try to upload some pics. I have the top timing cover off. I have rotated the engine to TDC and have aligned the marks on the flywheel. The timing mark on the lower flywheel aligns with the timing mark arrow that sits over the flywheel. Is this correct? If it is I don't want to go through the trouble of changing the timing belt if it's not needed.

I can't seem to get my pics to a small enough size to upload. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim

You check timing on the disturbutor by rotating it and check with a timing gun. Got nothing to do with timing belt.
Also ignition coil is inside the disturbutor not starter.
Did you got exhaust sound when you try to start? Like a puff puff? Did you put spark wire in right order? Cold start injector working? Fully charge the battery and try again.

Changing the timing belt is recommended at 60K. I have mine changed every 80K. It will break if you do not change it, and you will end up stranded on the road!
