i just changed my break shoes and the break pedal has a little longer travel but im sure its cuz the shoes arent settled in as yet. the thing that bothers me is that i got no e-break...i pull the lever and nothing happens...should i adjust the cable from the screw in the car?

No, the correct procedure is to adjust the rears via the star wheel on the caliper. Do NOT adjust the screw inside the cabin; that's a last resort.

He is right!!

Adjust the rear drum frist!!!

Then you should not have to adjust the e-brake.

When you do a rear brake job you have to adjust the shoes close enough to the drum as possible. If not you will have allot more room for the shoe to travel and that is why he said "the break pedal has a little longer travel". Although there are supposed to be self adjusting it take a long time and allot of driving in reverse for them to adjust if you don't have the shoes closes enough.

If you tighten the e-brake before you adjust them it may cause it to drag once the drum adjust itself.

AS long is the ebrake cable was rehooked up in the rear.. just pull the ebrake up and down about 25 times.. youll notice it start to get tighter.. this adjusts the rear shoes on toyotas.. you dont need to adjust it manually.
