anyone here own a 2005 or 2004 or 2003 corolla, i have one right now i like the car but i find it takes the bumps kinda hard, i know its a solid car though
what are your opinions, do all these cars give a bumpy ride?
No the Corolla S has no special suspension tunning despite the sporty accents ( I am an 04 ex-Corolla S owner). The Corolla XRS has a sport tuned suspension. The reason why the ride is hard on the N/A Corollas is because of the solid axle torsion beam at the back suspension with an anti-roll stabilizer bar as opposed to an multi link independent suspension on the generation 8 Corollas. What this means is that the rear suspension has a flexible metal beam running from one end to another instead of independent suspension. This makes any bump felt on one side of the rear propagate towards the complete back portion of the car. The advantage of the torsion beam is that it has a more controlled and rhythmic movement on smooth roads than an independent suspension. The disadvantage is that if the car goes over a rail road track or hard bumps at speeds higher than normal, the rear suspension struggles to keep in contact with the ground. I guess, you will need to learn how to adjust to it.

Yes a bumpy ride and the interior noise over bumps isn't as tight as older Corollas.
I'm not very happy with my '05.Better than an American 4 cyl badge but not as good as the older models.
Two warranty trips to the dealer.
Looks like another one with this chirping belt.
I don't think I'll buy another Corolla.
Replacing the stock Integrity tires will do wonders to improve the ride of the Corolla.

The 05's are suppose to have 700 new parts over the 03-04 models and that included more insulation around the car...I have an 03 and haven't experienced any serious road noise that bothered me that much, I guess if you want a "Quiet " car you should maybe grade up to a luxury model then buying a compact...JMO...Radd

Actually the noise I'm talking about over a bump is the sound of not tight vehicle.Rattle and ugly sounds from dash and console
I'm not talking about the Lexus type drive quietness.
The car isn't as solid over bumps as an older Corolla I owned.
If I had the '05 no start problem..the car would be sold or traded in a heartbeat.
Probably for a new designed Camry.

I never had any problems with any rattles from the dash/console area but the engine is a little loud, guess it could just be a car to car difference like a retainer clip not on or loose screws etc....The Camry's are nice I'm glad they got rid of those ugly tail lights...Parked next to a shiny new black one last night...impressive..~Radd

It's going in next week for the belt issue so I'll have the dealer service rep check the dash and such.
I love that new Camry SE with the 268 HP V6.
Not your fathers ugly Camry anymore.
