Temp sensor on 4AF header.

Well i had an exhaust leak and the fumes were slowly coming into my car and it was unpleasant to say the least.

so what i did was search ebay for a cheap alternative to replace the header, and found one that was an aftermarket 4-2-1 header.....problem solved.

received the header wtihin a week of ordering, and bolted it on tonight.

what i thought was an O2 sensor was actually a temp gauge sensor and now since the stock one was too short, and had a different mounting harness to it, would anyone know where i could get one for this header?

this is what the header resembles, but it is not exactly as shown. ON th very right hand side of the picture there would be a hole....aprox 20mm in diameter, for the sensor. What i have done in a quick fix was plug it up for the time being, then i realized that my temp gauge is not working. Not a really big problem as of yet, as it is winter and i have the heat on, so cooling really isn't THAT much of a problem yet. The real problem is i forsee this temp gauge activating the switch to turn on the radiator fan.

does anyone know what im talking about here?

You've got other issues. That hole isn't a temp sensor and has no bearing on your temp gauge. It's most likely a port where the EGR tube would tap into. However, your cylinder head already has a port built into the head for the EGR.

For the temp gauge, there's a single wire connection on the thermostat housing (under the distributor).

Hmmm.... well it shouldnt be, because you dont have an EGT on your car and the ECU doesnt have a place to plug a EGT. Its either like tek phobia said, or an O2 sensor. Oh btw, I've seen 4A-F's with O2 sensors on the manifold (thats where I stole mine from )

k, so maybe my asumptions towards that sensor were incorrect..but this image is extremely simular in regards to the header set up that i have.

[my cam is down for the time being, so a picture is out the questoin.]

but in regards to that image, what is that sensor coming out of the header?

That'd be your O2 sensor. Nasty looking header
