of all the special treatments u can get on the car

1) rust protection
2) fab protection
3) sound protection
4) paint protection

are all of these really necessary to get? or which ones are a waste of time and money

Depends what side of the fence you're on and whether you own your car and plan to run it into the ground. This question usually sparks the kind of wars usually generated when people ask "What brand of motor oil should I use?"

I did none of this stuff. Dealers make a killing on this stuff. Some you can do yourself. Other stuff I can't be bothered. But then I lease my car because in 4 years I'll have another bigger faster beast (IS300??? )

IS300 is not faster than the XRS. G35 Coupe probably.

Yeah but in 3.5 years the IS300 will be different (I believe is scheduled for redesign for 2006 model year).

And I don't care how it's sliced - an IS300 is better than a Rolla (Speed isn't everything).

Rust protection is necessary in my honest opinion...
But I dont think I'd get it done by toyota. I'd take it to a rustproofing specialist using dinitrol chemicals.

I have the complete protection package done on my XRS. It was overpriced since these dealerships make a fortune out of it. They harp a lot about it to sell it to the customer and charge quite a lot as well. Although, they completely back their work up so if there is even a small hint of rust anywhere, they will fix the problem free of charge. That is why, I got it done just for peace of mind since I plan to own this car till around 200K KMs or so.
