prize or gift with new car

For all of you toyota people out there who bought a new car from a toyota dealership

are the dealerships supposed to give out free gifts when u get a new car from them, such as a jacket or hat etc.

Or is it something your supposed to buy also?

It's up to the dealer and there's no Toyota standard policy around this. IMHO it's a nice idea and some dealers do this better than others. It may also depend on how much margin they made on your car and how hard they're trying to keep your service business.

My dealer sent me a food gift basket. I didn't expect it. It made me happy. I give him my service. So it works.

Yep, just as he said... They arent supposed to give you anything but the car, but most of them do give some "gifts" with the car.

These days, Toyota Canada has been giving a free GPS hand held navigation system with the purchase of every Toyota. I curse myself for not getting the car a month later.

Since when? Curious how they never advertised it. Could this be a local offering that isn't available in Central Ontario?

Well, I see it on TV all the time in Alberta atleast. I contacted Toyota to see what they say about it and since I got the car 15 days before they started this offer, will they give a GPS navigation?? So I have confimed this offer with Toyota as well. They asked me to talk to my salesman and see what his manager says etc. I am going to talk to him in a day or two.
