Question 4A vs 5A Motor and then some...

What's the difference between the stock 4A motor (carburetor type) that came with my AE91 and the 5A motor (carburetor type) I just dropped in? It looks pretty much the same except for fuel injector provisions right before the intake manifold.

Also, can I make this engine go fast or should i just drop in a 4A-GE to satisfy my hunger for power?

Thanks a lot and keep on revvin!!!

Displacement. 5A being a 1.5 and 4A being a 1.6....
Making an engine fast isnt as much into the engine model, its about financing, if you have money to dish out, you can make it quite fast

Thanks flashmn. Now i understand it better. I can probably work with the financing but the question is are there available aftermarket performance parts for the 5A engine? I saw some pictures of a 4A engine with a short ram intake. I know that short ram works with side draft throttle bodies but how were they able to adapt the intake pipe to the downdraft carburetor? Also, it i place that intake in place of the stock unit, wouldn't it be a hindrance to a TRD strut brace that bolts into the chassis?

That's right. There are spots for fuel injection but i'm not sure if it's drilled or not because there are plugs bolted to it with a tube-like fuel rail that holds the 4 plugs together. But this tube is not connected to anything so i know that the engine is not injected, plus considering the fact that there is a carb on top of the intake manifold.
