Ya it's a bit expensive, but not if you consider that it's original and it hasn't been f!!ked with, I'd buy if I didn't already have a bunch of $$ in my car.
-----------------------------------------------
Thanks for the comments. Yeah, the car is in awesome shape!! My mechanic is a factory trained Toyota mechanic and he said that its extremely solid
and in amazing shape. He doesn't say that about too many cars.
The paint is all original. Maybe the dig cam or the angle may have made it seem like the paint is mismatched, but its not. All OEM.
The car is located in downtown Toronto right now - its in my underground parking garage. Probably a 30min drive for you depending on traffic.
What am I asking for the car? To be quite honest - a lot. I bought the car for $3500 and have put about $2000 worth of maintenance, new parts and
labour into the car. Some of the items really didn't need to be replaced but I did so for peace of mind b/c I wanted the car to last a long time.
I'd like to recoup some of those costs. As such, I'd like somewhere between $4500 - $5000 for it (I'll wait for you to get off the floor  I have receipts for the work that I've done and I know the full history from 1985.
All the details are below:
1985 Toyota Corolla GTS hatchback
- 197,000kms
- red in colour with black & grey interior
- there are only 2 rust spots on the *entire* car
1. on the driver side corner of the hatchback
2. small spots around the license plate area
- 1.6L twin cam engine
- 5 speed manual transmission
- 4 wheel disc brakes
- power mirrors
- power steering
- 4 speakers with aftermarket CD player (CD player not included)
- OEM 4 spoke rims with 185/60/14 tires (additional set of 4 winter tires
and
4 summers tires for negotiation)
- no sunroof
- no a/c
- no cruise control
Here is some history on the car: The car was originally registered in 1985 in Ontario but the owner moved out to Halifax where he owned the car until
1991. During this time, the original owner (Barry) rust proofed the car every year and stored it during the winters (and thus never drove it).
Then in 1991, he sold the car to his friend (Paul Wanzel) in Halifax who is a mechanic for the Armed Forces. Paul Wanzel was the second owner. Paul also continued to rust proof the car until he sold it to me this year
(2001). Paul also never drove the car during the winters and had it stored in a barn. Paul never drove the car very much from 1994-2001 b/c he started to get into Hondas and had bought a 1990 Integra, 1991 CRX Si and a 1988 CRX DX.
Then Paul got transferred to Toronto (CFB Borden) where he and his wife had 4 cars but only drove 2 of them. So, Paul decided to sell the Corolla GTS
b/c he was going to do an engine transplant for his 1991 CRX Si. I believe that he put a Del Sol engine into it (160hp!!).
So now, I am the third owner of the car. Since then, I have had the following maintenance done to the car:
- new starter
- new tranmission fluid
- new differential fluid
- new clutch master cylinder
- new clutch fluid
- new Toyota exhaust (transferrable lifetime warranty)
- new radiator
- new upper rad hose
- new lower rad hose
- new waterpump
- new thermostat
- new timing belt tensioner
- new timing, power steering, and alternator belt
- new crankshaft seal
- new front brake pads
- new battery (don't know if the warranty is transferrable)
So, there's a bit of history for you. I doubt that any other seller will be able to give you this much detail about their cars.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Jason

it's too pricey for me though. owner is asking 4500-5000?! wow! and it's '85 old style front grill. the guy sent me pics of the car, and it's mint!! just two spots of rust as he claimed without a word of a lie.

Seriously, if I have that amount of money to buy that car, I will get a good condition AE92 instead and use the spare change to do some mods.
No matter how perfect that 86 is, it's still an older car which means there might be more potential problems.
Ok, maybe I'll buy that if it has full paintjob, 4A-GZE engine + rebuild, new clutch, rims, etc.
I'm selling my car for $5000 too. Hahaha, but it's not running. Doh!?

thats seriously inflated, regardless of maintainance put into it. not that hes over selling it, just that you can find many ae86's in comprable conditions if not just a little worse, for a far cheaper price. i would go 4000...maybe 4500...but abything over i think, in my opinion is too high.
but hey, if you have the cash and its not an issue, why not? its a good score. no rust and all the major maintainance issues have been adressed.
