Gas tank replacement?

89 Corolla SR5, 160K miles. The fuel tank is leaking if I fill it over 1/2 tank. Have you ever replaced one? Is it hard? What would you do? I have been driving with 1/2 tank for over a year.

Take out the fuelpump, lift the car, drop the tank, put in new tank, put in fuelpump.

i actually just changed my tank this summer...make sure to check the gasket first take out your back seats and check for any leaks on top of the tank first <--**important stuff**.....if your gasket is the problem in your tank change it, you do not have to spend money on a tank they usually cost around $300 CND....if that's not the problem you might have to go under your ae92 and check the tank itself...make sure your tank is not filled with gas or else it will get heavy when u take it out...even that check the gas line also to make sure it is not leaking <--very very important....

it should take about an hour or so to change it....and it should give u any probs for sure....

Thanks for the replies. Any tricks for dropping the tank or any tricks regarding the supports for the tank? I am pretty sure that the leak is on the tank since it only leaks when the tank is more than 1/2 full.
