What newer years are really the best

Not that it matters.., and has the vvti motor even changed since 1999? Just wondering.., I'd love to buy an older corolla but sellers are hard as hell to find for this model.

Go with the 2005 xrs...it has 170 hp compared to the other 2005 corollas...the 2005 S has the same hp/power as the 1999 with a few minor inprovements, if you can wait till 2007 their coming out with a whole new generation/style change and probably will add more hp....Raddman..

2005 Corolla S--- Engine
1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT-I
4-cylinder

actually the 98-99 corollas came with the 1ZZ engine without VVTI to my understanding

00++ has vvti.. other than that.. the car is nearly identical other than front bumper/lights, rear backup lights as well as minor interior modifications.

In 2000 it got VVTi which added 5HP and in 2003 it added direct injection which added another 5HP so no it is not the same although it is moving around more mass now.

Corolla XRS is the one to get if you want explosive power, aggressive and hard edged handling and to smoke all the wannabe ricers on the road. In XRS, the sum is truly greater than it's parts.
