I've done some research on this motor and it seems pretty mean. 20V, what kind of hp/tq is this soupposed to make out the motor

i currently have a 1996 Corolla 1.8L would it fit?

how much would it be and where is the cheapest place i can find it

would it be legal in America?

I want to soak up some information

Thanks!

You're in Cali, so expect problems getting it done. It's definitely physically doable, and I know that there are 20Vs in cars out there. But I don't know what you guys have to go through for emissions. Up here in Ontario, Canada, most engine swaps make it easier to pass emissions. However, California is another story. Try to find a copy of the relavent laws and start reading.

Can't swap in an engine that was never sold in the United States no matter what in CA. Also can't swap in an engine from an older car. If you want to make things legal, you gotta do EVERYTHING by the book. Has to be smogable, have everything hooked up and has to pass inspections. They literally whip out wire diagrams and check for functionality.

As for the 20V... it's been done a lot. You can get swapped cars smogged in CA if you know people. 20V 4AGs can make anywhere from 140 hp to 150-160 hp (silvertop and blacktop respectively). They're typically a bit overrated. These engine are usually readily available from engine importers who import JDM Toyota engines. They're usually not that expensive either.

It would be alot easier for you to put in a 4agze since it was offered in the 88 S/C MR2.
More power and tq than a 20V as well.
My 2 cents.

I'd hafta say it depends on what you want to do with the car? Drag Race? Rally? Auto-X? Or just have a faster street car? It all depends because you have to figure out what kind of power you want out of it....and go from there.....the 4agze is a GREAT option since Kwanza brings up the point of engines only from the US and Mid-GSI has shown you the path....now you must walk the path......

(I feel like Morpheus from The Matrix....the path....walk the path.....)
