Can I apply an 1.0 bar Garret turbo to my 4AF engine with the stock carb? In other words, can I apply an 1.0 bar Garret turbo to a standart 4AF engine? By this how much power can i gain?
I think you should pick up a book and read that before you start even thinking about turboing. You obviously dont know any basics, and quite frankly, without the basics you're just gonna kill your car and maybe yourself along it. http://www.howstuffworks.com for example.
If you give the engine too much boost, you're going to risk damage to atleast the head and pistons. Too much boost will cause your engine to 'knock' or 'ping' just like it would if you were using 89 octane fuel in a car that required 98 octane.
You can give the car more boost if you put in some low compression pistons, though you might be more lucky (and possibly cheaper) with some high compression pistons which will give you that pickup across the whole low/high rpm range, and could possibly cost less.
Also if you go with a turbo, make sure you run it a little rich, or spot on. I've seen a lean mix damage a head as if someone had taken a blowtorch to it.
Dude, knowing which pedal is the gas, and which is the brake, isn't 'knowing the basics'.
You need to learn some more shit, than you wouldn't really be asking such questions with so much ... how to say, impression of having absolutely any idea.
I wouldn't dare turbo a carbed car. It can be done, and has its own satisfaction, it is the kind of thing Flashmn would try doing. I am more of the electronics dude. Still you ain't going to go for a turbo if you have any idea, carb or not.
Shit, shouldn't do any mod if you don't understand the basics.
Oh, and basics isn't talking about boost levels, most often ppl who talk about the stage their car is at, or the boost they have are just idiots who know nothing.

Right on, but right now I'm gonna pass on it. I did some research on it.... I'd have to swap my lower end to get satisfactory reliable performance. It would last with stock about 8psi maybe, on quick sprints.. but long boost time on a hiway top speed trial would cause serious problems.
Why would I trash the 4A-F when I'm having fun with it. Besides we've gone through this arguement more than once. I already have "ITB"'s on my car in the form of weber 40mm carburetors.
Oh brother...... that is a very sick attitude, 'trash ur bla bla, and put a bla bla' Come on! if everyone did everything the same, there wouldn't be any fun.
Besides, ECU controlled engines don't necessarily own a carb, and same applies vice versa. Both have their own grounds. So to each his own way

carbs have instantaeous response.
NDR, but why argue with ignorant people, its like swimming against the current, you can do it but it gets boring after so long because you arent going anywhere
