NO Seat Belt Shoulder Harness, NO Drive Toyota...HELP!!!

I got a fix it ticket because the shoulder harness on my 78 toyota corolla wagon is frayed (and now ripped in two) and no longer works.

The waist part of the seat belt is still working, but not the shoulder harness. Toyota no longer makes this part.

What do I do now?

i would look in boneyards for any kind of early 80s to late 70s toyota. It is very likely that all the seatbelts will be very similar if not the same. if that doesn't' work you could just retrofit the seatbelt mechanism out of another car.

1. go to your local home improvement centre
2. buy duct tape
3. sit on seat
4. wrap duct tape around your chest and the seat

or... just put like 100+ stitches and mend it with some equally strong material. i dont know... kevlar... denim's pretty strong as well...

Theres only one way to go if Totota no longer makes the part, head for the bone yard...shouldn't be hard to take off/put on..also if you want to replace the belts just take it to a auto upholstery place they do that kind of work....Raddman

you could look around for (search google) for OEM style belts when i was looking for my racing harnesses i found a company that makes oem replacement belts for older cars, or you could get some cheap 4 or 5 point harnesses

Well, that's a start.

I did check out car-part.com and actually ordered a speedometer cable for my car.

I also googled and found a place near me that I will call Monday morning.
