PRO: faster shift less clutch time
Con: takes a little more effort due to the more leverage and higher piviot point (not really a bad thing but i needed a con)

Theoretically yes, but that time is really not an issue, I'd myself rather put metal bushings to make the stock stick less mushy. Really the cons of the short-throw shifters is that your shifting becomes more sloppy, its harder to feel the "slots".

Basically you could just take a hacksaw to your stock shifter and cut it down to get the same effect, because atleast on a corolla you dont have space underneath the shifter assembly to increase the portion under the ball, so the pivot point wont change by much.

ahh but on the trd short shift kit it has a CNC spacer plate that goes under the stock shifter bracket as well as a stick with a longer bit under the piviot
with out that spacer yeah cutting the top of the stick would be an option, but not a good one, all that does is give you the sensation of the distance being less but really you are pulling it the same distance just at a lower point

i guess the best way to think of it is if you immagined two lines that travel into infinity both extending from the piviot point if you grab anywhere above the piviot really you will be pulling the lower rod the same distance no mater how high or low you grabbed, if you were to say make the piviot higher then it will take less movement from the top to move the bottom your goal distance (we could really go off on all kinds of stuff about anges and what not but im keepin it simple here)

The distance would be shorter, but the angle would still be the same. in a true short-throw shifter it would chance the angle from lets say a hypothetical 90deg to 60deg.

Then again, I'm the one who'd spend the money on something else.

isn't the TRD s/s intended for right-hand drive, meaning it's curved towards the driver ?

so that means.. you can ask your passenger to shift it for you! it's like he's doing something, now with the TRD shifter he'll be useful!

I'd rather have that hot chick passenger using _my_ shifter than the TRD shifter But all in all, I'd think they make a LHD version for markets on LHD countries.
