Canada gas leak...it smells

Since its colder here, my toy (corolla 92 1.6FI) started to smells like fuel. mostly when the car is idling, when im stop at a light. I looked under, a gas line was rotten, repaired it, but still smells. i think its coming from above the gas tank, not from the motor side or exhaust line. its getting worst since a couple of days and mileage is bad since the smells. i would think its the fuel return line, or maybe a seal. Any advices? is it regular problem?
thanks for any input

Thats on the plan...but i wanted to know before i find a space to do it, if its a classic weakness, if i definetly have to remove the gas tank, cos its all rusty up there. if its obvious its a seal, im gonna get it before i start the job, cos its my daily driver and i just cant waste time. thanks for any advice.

If the gas line was rotten, chances are you've never done rustproof before or for a long time.. I'd look at the actual gas tank or the pipe where you put your gas from (what's that called again).

hey dude,
had the same problem with my AE102 93 corolla. this past weekend, i decided to pull the tank. everything was coming out ok, exhaust, shield, then i started undoing hte lines, the filer line, return line, then the vent lines. when i hit that, i got hit in the eye with gas ,then the mouth. found my leak, a crack in the tank. it was on the bottom side. when you get yur car up on hte lift or jack stands like me, look for a trail. when the gas leaks it leaves a varnish trail. should point you back to where the leak is. to fix mine, i used some permatex 2 part epoxy gas proof sealer. clean well and follow directions. i had to put the vent lines back on to stop the gas from dripping(stopping gravity and causing a vaccume again in the tank), but i 2 hours(takes that long to harden) the leak was gone. i asked a freind of mine and he said it is very common for 93-97 corollas. they changed several ath the delaership he works at. and i peaked under my coworkers corolla yesterday and saw he had a leak too...

god luck... hopefully you won't have to buy a new tank.
