AC/Heat/Defrost Lever Broken - HELP! - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Just got my 91 Corolla DX back from a broken axel... Today in the freezing cold, the lever to change modes from the foot/dash heat to defrost was stuck. Of course, I tried to force it into place and I made the problem worse. Now the lever moves, but it does not change modes... any repair ideas...

Bummer. you gotta pull the center console trim off. Once you do that, it should be pretty easy to see what the deal is with your HVAC controls. Sounds like you either broke a cable, broke the piece the cable attaches to, or somehow the cable has just become disengaged. No way to tell without looking. The center trim is kind of the shits to take out, and instructions can be found here in other posts. Good luck! Regards, Aaron
