04 replacement tires

Any input as to a nice set of all weather replacement tires for my 04 CE? Should I slap a set of snows on the front?..my factory tread has 29,000 on them..and they are slick as olive oil.

I believe they are 185-65-15's...correct? CE's have 185's..i forgot to look

First New england snow storm caused me some problems.

You probably had those crappy Goodyear Integritys as I did on mine that lasted only 35K. You can't be getting any more snow/ice in Mass then I get in the Cleveland area. I checked reviews on line and found a great tire that is affordable. I went to a BFgoodrich(made by Michelin now) Traction T/A H rated. I went to Sams club they had a special $15 off each BFgoodrich tire and got a set with taxes--lifetime balance, rotating, road hazard for $310... I went to a 205-65-15(my rolla s called for a 185-195) because it had an extra tread on it...they fit/ride great, just tried them out in the snow/ice for the first time Sunday with not a problem plus they have grooved sides for better cornering, if you would live in Canada then I would suggest winter tires, also if you want to spend the money there are plenty nice tires out there, but I'm very happy with these ...If you do buy these they are a directional tire make sure they are put on with the arrow going forward...hope this helps....Raddman

If your still under the 36K bumper to bumper warranty I wouldn't go with anything other the recommended tire size(ask your dealer if this would cause a problem with your warranty), once I hit 36K I went to a 205 size with no problem it was just 3/4 inch larger then 195 and It fills my wheel well out nicely, your CE only calls for a 185 tire...I do think that the larger/smaller you go might mess with your mileage, not sure(not much I don't think)...a few tire dealers wouldn't put on any tires for me other then the manufactures recommended size...lots of people here put on 16-17-18 inch rims on their cars so I would say don't jump into a larger size until your sure they will fit correctly, there are webs that will give you the measurements for different tire sizes ...JMHO....Raddman

Just wondering

I could not find the Goodrich Traction T/A H rated tires at Sam's. Special order? I bought some other Goodrich's there, but did not see the Tractions.

I have an 05 Corolla S and immediately replaced the stock Goodyear Integrity 195/65-15's with the BF Goodrich Traction T/A 205/60-15's with plenty of clearance all around. These tires are top-rated all seasons at Tirerack.com. Now that they're on the car, I might have been able to go with 215/60-15's, but am not sure if this would leave adequate clearance on the inboard sides up front.

Good idea, wonder if 215's would work, I have the same only I went to 205-65-15 traction t/a H rated..a little wider then yours but I like the extra surface tread to ground...(just 2 mm) which is just great in weather that isn't as severe like in Canada and other places...I just get a few big snow storms but alot of small snow fall and ice/ slush/ frozen rain in wintertime...holds the road great and wears like iron...only is the ride is a little hard....Radd Guy...

Hope you got some money for your "new" goodyears that you replaced and just didn't give them up at changing brands....
