.....Which Corolla? I'm going to assume your talking about a AE86.
First off performance wise they are the same cuz they are the same damned car aferer all. As far as I see it the only difference is that the liftback has more storage space but wheighs more while the coupe has less storage space but weighs less. Other than this there is no real difference.
I chose liftback cuz it has more space to work with as well as the back seats conveniatly fold down it to a bed for you and your lady friend.

as far as the size of the car to the size of cargo space ratio is concerned, NOTHING beats the hatch.

I don't think there's enough space for Tofu in the coupe.

But serious tho, I'm sure that some are of the opinion that the coupe is more rigid than the hatch. I can neither confirm or deny that. So in essense, I've said nothing ...

the coupe has those fold down seats too, but a very limited space "hole" only about a foot vertical clearance. not a lot of cargo space. i drive the coupe but i seek the hatch. the hatch just looks a bit sleeker, and its ultra popular too.

Hahaha... jokes. Well, I personally like the hatchback, but I have the coupe and it's just fine. What I would really want is a hatchback with Levin front end though. I saw one Levin front end for sale on eBay before. But it was pick-up only from Oregon or something in the USA. I dunno how much it sold for... probably about $1K.

i think i would go for a coupe because you see them around less.... and if you can find a coupe in good shape for around the same price as a hatch... then be original..... but owning a corolla in the import scene is fairly original to begin with....lol
