Proper tire pressure Corolla

I just couldn't stand my OEM Goodyear Integrity tires. Squirmy sidewalls, just a lousy feeling when driving on the turnpike. I bought some Goodrich Traction T/A H rated tires and put them on. Had 'em out for a brief stretch, but not sure what pressure will suffice. I put in 32 pounds. The tire is a rather amazing physical specimen. The sidewalls are thick and strong, and the tireman had a pretty nice time mounting them. They handle super, just grab the road like nobody's business. Still, not exactly sure what pressure to run. I want the optimum level of handling ability as well as the best traction. Harder tires will probably get better mileage, I realize this.

Thanks all

I have the same tires on my Maxima, and so far, they have been great in the snow. I would suggest looking into your glove box and using the air pressure they recommend, provided you are on the stock tire size. You'll likely be safe upping the air pressure 2-3 psi higher than what they recommend. I've been doing that to my cars for years with nary a problem.

lol OMG yea now id liek to see how bald the middle of your tires get !!!! reason for having this pressure setting is so that the tire seats flat and gives you maximum traction... lol

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=HPAS Hi I had the same tires (Integrity's) and they were total junk...I also have on my 03 rollas BFgoodrich traction t/a H now I run them at 32 psi... The place that put them on said only go with what your manufacture recommends (you didn't say what year you had) my info is on the glove compartment door...make sure you check the pressure when the tires are cold with a good gauge...I went to a 205/65/15 tire because it had an extra tread on it...I had these tires on for three months now and the only complaints I have is that it seems like I lost a little gas mileage and it has a rough ride in cold weather other then that I think there a great all season tire....$ 310 out the door at sams club....Raddman

Canada traction t/a's

hey all!! being in the tire industry we have special priveliges. such as ride & drive programs.. i went to the kick asphalt tour that bfgoodrich put on to introduce the traction t/a's.we got to bag on some sweet rides to try then out before the general public gets to buy them.. i bought the first set of traction t/a's before their release date to the general public.. have them on my 86 rolla 185/60hr14 s with mazda miata rims.. these suckers rock wet, dry , snow , even in the dirt... a really good all round tire .. i run mine at 32psi but they r rated for 44 psi max. so depending on your tastes you can inflate them to any psi range. but i do suggest that u do not go below 30 psi . especially if u like to fly all the time.. i generally cruise at 80 mph on the freeway , so the higher air pressure helps .. drive hard drive fast !!! i think their better than the comps they replaced !!! oh yeah we r the western canadian distributor for michelin. bfgoodrich & uniroyal tires !!!!

I also worked in a Tire shop over 10 years. I have a 05 Corolla and replaced the GoodYear with 205-60HR15 BFG Traction T/A. The MAX 44 psi is for when you are towing a trailer or you have 4 passengers all the time.
I agree with tireboy, don't go under 30 psi. You just need to play with the pressure
and see how you like it. So you are safe between 32 psi to 44 psi.

Manufacturer calls for 30 psi because they want the car to have a softer ride. (bumps,potholes,ect...) If the testdrive is rough and bumpy, the cust might not buy the car.

Since you worked in a tire shop, I went up from goodyear 195-65-15(03rollaS) to bfg traction t/a H 205-65-15 mainly because it had an extra tread on it...what is the difference/advantage in getting 205- 60-15 size?..., thanks...Raddman

example: 205-65-15
205 is the width of the tire in mm.
The middle # is the aspect ratio, is like 65% of 205mm.
So the bigger the middle # is, the taller the tire will be.

205-65-15 will give you a softer ride. The sidewalls will flex more when turning/cornering.
And your speedo will be off a little because it is a taller tire.

205-60-15 is a little wider and almost the same height as the 195-65-15, so the speedo wont be out as much. It corners better because the sidewalls will be flexing less.

I don't work in a tire shop anymore so I don't know if the 205-60-15 has the extra tread
on it or not. 205-65-15 will work fine on the 03 to 05 corollas.

I also had the 205-60-15 Michelin Harmony on for a day. It was raining very hard that day, the Harmony was worst than the stock Goodyears. So the next day I exchanged to the Traction T/A.

Hi tireboy,

I see that you are from coquitlam, BC.
Which tireshop you work at, maybe we know each other.
I started working as a tireman in 1987 with Canadian cash & carry tire center in Burnaby
by Kingsway & Imperial. And went to Volco tires after that. I also know the guys at Tireland
by Main & 11th. Small world, isn't it?

Thanks
Phil
