Exclamation Help! Looking for a dimmer switch

I got a deck installed in my sisters 96 rolla and the dimmer switch went out, I heard a pop and the stereo guys took the switch out and found the a piece had broken off. The fuses were all good and the exterior lights all work, it's just the dash and HVAC lights that are out. I ordered the part from toyota at $127!!! I was wondering if anyone had access to a parts car or it this has happened to anyone else before. I know in consumer reports they said the electrical system on that particular year was suspect, but I wondered if the installers could have f#$ed up(doubtful).
Thanks guys.

I would say the installer messed up. I think there may be some electronics in the later dimmer units (not sure ???) Maybe some electronics in yours. Do the taillights still work ??

Go to a junkyard. But call them first to ask if they have that dimmerswitch. Or perhaps post a "want to buy" thread at the buy/sell forum if anybody has one here at TN.

all of the other lights still work. that was my first thought cause I heard a pop and originally thought that all the lights went out, but no. I don't really see how the installers could have done it. does anyone think a jump wire with an inline fuse would sufice while I wait for the switch to come in?
