well im new to cars and stuff, hows that exhaust muffler? since im not a hardcore car mod guy, i dont wanna spend a couple hundred on a TRD. would this do the job for a beginner like me? btw i have a 05 Corolla S auto. any opinions/suggestions welcomed. thanks
so what would you recommend to give my rolla a lil more power and make more noise for as little money as possible? i was looking at TRD parts, but they cost too much for me. my friends told me about some generic brands, but i dunno. any suggestions?
Just putting on one of those little mufflers won't give you any more power. Just more noise. and they sound like a dirt bike wide open when you step on the gas.it's what we call "rice".all those claims for HP are just marketing schemes. Don't be fooled.. If you want HP from your exhaust you will have to start with headers and work your way back with the proper size pipes and then a freer flowing exhaust. the TRD's are good but way too expensive. There are many after market exhausts out there less expensive, but you're not gonna get HP gains w/o spending a couple of hundred bucks. Unless u find something used and in good shape..sorry check these out http://members.cardomain.com/mr2bad

ahahaha.. that's your typical rice muffler.. they used to be ok up to when they got too popular and now everyone and their mother's have one on their Hondas.

Go TRD. It's the only way to go. If you love your car, give it the care and pampering it deserves. Toyota Racing Development. That alone is a statement. I have a 92 and I only go for TRD.
Try considering MR2BAD's suggestion. Let your engine breathe by bolting on headers and / or downpipe. Try dropping in a TRD filter to allow more air into your throttlebody. This should give your rolla a few more horses without that loud (a.k.a. RICE) muffler that everyone is laughing at. Stock on the outside but has additional kick under the hood. You have yourself a sleeper.
I just got a OBX muffler put on. It doesn't fart. I sounds great. I was afraid that it would sound like a honda but it is very low and melow. I have a v6 though. When I had my i4 my muffler sounded horrible. Like w weed-wacker. I got it on Ebay for like $40 or $50. I can't remember. It was worth it. However, I don't feel a power difference and you probably won't. You have to spend cheese if you want power.
Yeah, it's pretty humorous to see/hear a honda or some other car with an auto and a fart can.
What I'd do is to try and find someone who put an exhaust on their GTS model, and swap your muffler for the factory sport unit. I did that on our Integra GSR, used the type R rear muffler, the rest of the system was the same, around 2". It's the design of the muffler more than the size of the tubing that makes the most amount of difference.
