im not looking to blast my music. the reason i want to get a cd player is because i dont have one in the car, and the adapter for a regular CD player is getting annoying
im also not sure if im going to need a harness? otherwise i'll be able to install it myself im sure.
I like kenwood myself. I know there's some entry level Kenwood's that would be cheap enough. Word of advice though.. specially if you got a PC and can download mp3's, get a CD/mp3 player they've gone down a lot in price. I know up here in Canada you can find Kenwood, Pioneer and JVC mp3 players for like $150 CDN or cheaper. Exchange that to US and you're looking at like $115-120.
out of the ones you posted,id have to go with the pioneer!
for a start pioneer comes wit pre outs.so if you want to hook up an amp you dont have to start spendin extra money!
plus i think they have the best fretures......
sayin all that,i have a kenwood double din in my car...lol
Yeah, out of the ones you posted, I'd get the Pioneer.
JVC kinda sucks, and I've never heard anything about Blaupunkt.
I strongly recommend getting a MP3/WMA player, as using mp3 discs gives you a lot more hours of music on one disc, not to mention cool stuff like the song title being shown.
If you're gonna install it yourself you'll need a wiring harness. Also if you're gonna install it yourself, get it off eBay from a reputable seller, it'll be way cheaper. eBay sellers I have had excellent experiences with are "alamosatx" and "mobile.power".
Get one that you can attach an external input. Great for hooking up a portable mp3 or wma player. I use my Blaupunkt radio with my mp3 portable and it works out great.

i know I will need a harness, but will i also need a installation kit? my friend told me that i wouldn't need the kit, but i will need a harness. the harness is $15, and the kit is another $20. has anyone installed this themselves?
where can i find out whether or not I will need the kit?
i did some research, and i found out that I do not need the installation kit, only the harness. good news!
however, im not sure if this Kenwood KDC 325 is compatible with the corolla. i checked www.crutchfield.com but they do not have this model in their database. are there any other websites that can tell me if this model is compatible with the 96 corolla? the kenwood website says nothing about what cars it is compatible with. thanx again.
That'll fit, but why not step it up a notch and get the current MP3/WMA MP-425? I recently got one and its great. Menus take a while to learn though.
You will need a harness for any unit, but no kit. The kit is only if you wanna be able to put in headunits and take out headunits without taking apart the dash. I find it useless though, cause its hard to work with wires in the back of the HU without taking apart the dash anyway.
the reason i didn't get an mp3 headunit is that i dont burn CD's, so i really have no use for it. i thought about buying it for a while, but then saw no point to it.
i finally installed the head unit. took me two days, (i have no good tools ) but went to sears and pickup up some things, and finally put it in.
thanx for all your help. btw, its a kenwood kdc 325 Thanx buys!
