Talking i searched... no dice..point me in the right direction here people :)

ive recently acquired an interest in the 4age.. mostly due to a ride in a friends 87 gt-s coupe.. anyhow im wondering what kind of aftermarket support there is for the motor... mainly the older ones circa ae86 corollas ( i understand there are like.. 90's 4age's as well as 20V ones.. etc)

can someone point me in the direction of maufacturers(sp?) that make pistons, cams, etc etc for the motor?

a gts coupe with a high compression 4age sounds like a good time.

thanks in advance everyone!

Is this the same Clayton with the 3SGTE Celica? If not, nevermind.

HKS, Toda, JUN, Wiseco, Ted Components, TRD, 3T, Toysport, Fennsport and a bunch of JDM companies make parts for the Bluetop 4AGE.

don't go bigport 4age unless you plan to go boost..... they're boring..... smallport (for n/a 4age's) is the way to go in North America..... yes, this is my opinion... but it's coming from someone who has a friend with an ae86 gts, i previously owned a bigport powered mr2 (slower than my ae92), have a smallport 4age in my ae92 sr5, and just drove another friend 89 mr2 and it just felt dog slow (and it's tripped with CF sparco race seats)

i understand the principle behind why the small port motors make more power in NA setups.. small intake runner size. more velocity etc etc.... but im unclear as to when they were produced and what cars they came in.... were the small port motors ever put into an ae86? if not will a small port heard bolt onto a big port block? ( basically can i just stick a small port head onto a big port motor and roll with that?) .. and if the small port motors were not put into ae86 corollas i assume that would mean its a FWD engine.. if so what is required to put it into a RWD car... i know on the 20V motors the dizzy and theromstat housing have to be adressed is this the same case with the small port motors ( if they are in fact FWD)

thanks again!!

The smallport 4AGE came in the 90-91 Corolla GTS and the 90-92 Geo Prizm GSI. The late model 92 Geo Prizm GSI had a very very rare MAP sensored smallport. As for smllports in AE86's... no, they never had that engine originally. It's a much much stronger motor than the bigport and I've done test runs and have tuned both versions side by side. The bigport just doesn't hang with the smallport mildly tuned. You'd have to do a swap if you want a smallport in the AE86. It's a pretty simple straight-foreward swap. You'll just need to get a bigport-->smallport adaptor plate for the intake manifold, or you'll have to modify the smallport intake manifold/throttle body. I'm currently running a smallport in my AE86 on the stock ECU and harness and it runs great. To make it RWD, you'll basically need the water pump, water lines, intake manifold (as described above), motor mounts and accesory brackets (for whatever accesories you wanna run). You'll need to use the AE86 GTS sensors and harness too, unless you wanna do something else with it. The other thing... AE86s are pretty rare and expensive, especially GTS models.

you should also need to use the bigport injectors, as the smallport injectors are high ohm

that all being said, neither mentioned that the smallport is actually built stronger as well.... they have a bigger journal crank, stronger rods (yes, they are heavier unfortunately), but the smallport also uses a higher compression (10.3:1) and has a higher rev limit..... i take mine up to 7800 daily with NO problems... and that's only because that's where i have it limited right now

smallport cams are smaller than a bigport..... toyota actually tuned the smallport better, rather than being a peaky motor like the bigport, the smallport has more accessible power through the band

would a 4age outta a jdm levin ae86 be a small port or a big port motor? i know in teh states it would of course be a big port, but i wasnt sure if the jdm motors got the small port treatment.. thanks!!!
