XRS questions

I'm just curious, does your rpm guage (or your rpm) bounce everytime you coast on neutral or when you shift gears? I noticed everytime i coast on neutral approaching a stop light and blip the throttle the rpm bounces.

im not 100% sure what your trying to say. Are you saying that when you push the gas a little bit your rpm jumps a little bit?

Chris,

Isn't that what the tach is supposed to do?

Or do you mean that the engine's speed does not change but the tach is inaccurately moving up/down?

Question is a bit too vague. You will have to be a bit more concise. The only bounce I feel is when I rev my XRS up to 8500 and the rev limiter bounces the needle down.

Ok, after reflecting back to my days when I started driving he XRS, I kind of know what you are trying to say. Are you finding the XRS throttle too sensitive or overly responsive?? Even if you lightly press the gas pedal and the rpms climb up like mad with the engine screaming quickly. Well, it takes some getting used to since it is quite opposite to the big throttle lags I have experienced in other cars. Yes, it is a pain in the begining to have an overly sensitive gas pedal, but due to the high revving nature of the engine, you will begin to appreciate the exceptional throttle responsive as you learn how to control the throttle during the shifts and in neutral. My suggestion is, go to an empty space (parking lot) and program your right foot to feather the gas pedal each time you start light acceleration or during the shifts. It will take a lot of practice, but once your foot is programmed to automatically go to right notch, it will not be a big deal anymore.

I've noticed corollas tend to have a light pedal, especially the XRS, even my TE72 has a lighter pedal than other cars I've driven
